As a committed Quark man Ben I know very little about InDesign. My only real experience to date was attending a 10 week crash course on the program. I found it very user friendly and it clearly has more bells and whistles than my slightly outdated QuarkXpress version 7.3. Just to be awkward I also prefer Freehand MX to Illustrator.
The design company I worked 25 years for mainly used Quark, Freehand and Photoshop. Since being made redundant at the grand old age of 48, I have now realised when it comes to applying for design jobs, you will require a good knowledge of all things Adobe.
I hope you manage to resolve the Photoshop problem without having to be admitted to the nearest mental asylum!
Cheers,
Willie

Adobe products are like spouses, we love them and we learn to live with their annoying disadvantages.
